Land of Lions Technical Test

Hey Anno Community,
Today we are looking for some intrepid adventurers to join us aboard the first ships traveling to Enbesa, the “Land of Lions” as part of our next Technical Test! Similar to what we did last year for “The Passage”, this Technical Test will over the course of several weeks invite a number of Anno Union community members to play our biggest DLC early, and to help us find issues and problems.

Keep in mind that you will be playing new content in an early work-in-progress state (as “Land of Lions” is scheduled for Fall 2020), so a certain tolerance for dealing with bugs and technical problems is highly recommended. Testers will have access to a closed forum where they can share their experiences and feedback with members of the Anno Dev Team, to ensure that we can deliver an amazing DLC and end to Season 2 (plus the associated free Game Update of course, which will also have many quality-of-life improvements players have been asking for).

Interested players can sign up for a chance to be part of the Technical Test by visiting this website.

Please be aware that due to the early state of the new content, the Technical Test will be under a strict NDA, and participants will not be allowed to share information, images or videos from the test outside the closed forum. We are currently planning to start the “Land of Lions” Technical Test in mid-July.

See (some of you) in Enbesa!

how do we that we have been selected or not and any update about THE LAND OF LIONS TECHNICAL TEST ?

    •   Ubi-Thorlof July 16, 2020

Every participant selected will receive an e-mail with an invitation and additional information. Similar to the last big test, we will send several waves of invites over the course of the test, so if you did not receive an invite at the beginning, you’re not automatically “out” 🙂

We’ll soon have an update on the test.

Thank you for your comment. So, if I understand you correctly, you’d like an option to skip the waiting/preparation times which are currently in place for the Exhibitions?
Keep in mind you can always build more Exhibition halls to have several Exhibitions run at the same time.

We’ve also forwarded the request regarding the manual planting of regular trees 🙂

Да, конечно я понимаю, что можно построить Выставки на 10 островах и обложиться декором=) Но возможность пропуска ожидания – это просто маленькая мечта=)

И спасибо за деревья, а вдруг добавят такую функцию, было бы просто шикарно=)

You should upgrade AI to be more inteligent, because they arent using full potential of island they take. I would say around 25% except main island. Sometimes they will build only a few building and thats all.

I would like to see some automatic or manual feature, which start foresting island after period of time without building anything there (building lumbermil everywhere looks shitty – holes in middle). Deserted land dont look nice, but its fun to see many animals there without any tree etc…

When do we receive an e-mail that we’re accepted?
Please also send a mail when were rejected, it’s painful to wait without a response.

    •   Ubi-Thorlof July 16, 2020

Hey donderfeniks, we’re planning to send out invites in waves over the next weeks after the start of the Technical Test and plan to slowly expand the number of testers.
Therefore we’re not planning to send “rejection e-mails”.

it would be possible someday the game have Portuguese subtitles ubi/blue byte? so that I and many others in the Brazilian community do not depend on mods that can break the game!?

    •   Ubi-Thorlof July 9, 2020

Hey, we appreciate that the lack of language support has an impact on your enjoyment of the game.
While we’re not planning to add support for additional languages to the existing games, we will get back to this topic again when it comes to a future title.
Thank you for your feedback 🙂

Will we be starting with an established city, or from a save game? I would hate to play hours before getting to the new content.

    • 7 76561198185420457 July 7, 2020

Why doesn’t this show my user ID?

    • 2 2794436100574434 July 7, 2020

Would be nice to start from own savegames or only new content without need already released one…

    •   Ubi-Thorlof July 8, 2020

During these tests you will usually have to start a new savegame to test everything from the ground up and see how new mechanics, goods etc interact with the different aspects of the game.
All selected participants will receive more details later on 🙂

If a technical test comes, some big changes are made. I hope on some improvements.
    – A quest overview (I forget the quests always on other maps, certainly the quests on the Arctic).
    – A ruins overview

I hope some stuff comes back from Anno 1404 (Venice):
    – The honor system, with rewards. Currently everything is bought with money in Anno 1800. In a certain point in the game you get a full pocket (money cap), The money loses it’s value and the quests…. Why do you do something without reward (You can’t receive rewards from quests because you lose the reward money.) I hope the quests get their usefulness back.
    – The edicts. People will like it while playing against the NPC that is in constant war with you. Forcing a peace (alliance) treaty is my way off survival in Anno 1404 Venice. An option to make it unavailable in multiplayer is recommended.
    – The medals and reward program is something I’m missing a lot (with the buildings and other rewards you can unlock. Now we need to do it with the club rewards.)
    – Land combat. It gets annoying that people ask for it. But, I get the problem in my save game that I and the npc gets in a standstill. All the influence goes to the defense of the islands and so I’ve got barely any ships that can attack (I’ve chosen low influence in the settings). This also count for the NPC. I hope on the combat system of Anno 1404, but I think it’s a pipe dream to get combat on land (and in air). I hope it changes with land combat.

New stuff I hope on for the dlc:
    – New world to discover (this already looks comfirmed).
    – Bigger ships (I’ve got the feeling we get this. Maybe we can build the great Eastern over their?)
    – New items (I’m hoping on an item that provides sewing machines. their isn’t any item to solve a sewing machines shortage.)
    – New population class above investors. This looks like a challenge.
    – New decorations (this makes sense)
Most importantly I like surprises, so everything I would like.

Some question for the test. Do we need to start a new game or can we use a saved game?

      +
      1) I would like to see new opportunities in a new world
      2) a large island in the new world, similar to the island dlc sunken treasures
      3) more huge buildings ( hangar and world exhibition ) Bolshoi theater, art exhibition
      4) homelessness and crime, unemployment ( I have about 50 thousand unemployed) financial crisis
      5) new needs for investors and other classes when the city has reached a population of 300 thousand ( farmers want sausages and bread, workers canned food, etc.) and just new needs and goods ( just a lot of surplus products in the late stage of the game )
      6) trams, possibility of decoration for the coast

+ On combat, I do find it disappointing that I should be able to literally starve the AI from accessing the new world (assuming i have the military power to sink the AI) and therefore stop them having the ability to get Artisans+ but i’m can’t 🙁

+ On decorations and huge buildings, i’m a sucker for creative sessions making a pretty city. having an art gallery would actually be pretty epic.

+ In terms of big ships i’m still grinding for Anna Union so i can produce Extravaganza Steamer’s, it would be cool to have a monument ship which takes multiple stages to build and possibly some kind of buff.

        • N Namoras July 13, 2020

I think land combat is really unnecessary, at first I thought it would be a huge thing to miss out on but after 200 hours of playing I don’t feel like missing anything about it.
In terms of bigger ships im also all for it. Maybe a monument as in Anno 1404 where you could build the historic warehouse. But instead of more storage capacity it gives you plans for a new ship. Maybe a shipyard monument.
