Anno 1800 wants to set sail worldwide on February 26th, 2019! With that in mind, let’s take a look at the various ways you want to enjoy the game, and at the special pre-order bonus we’ve prepared.

Digital Standard Edition
Anno 1800 ™ – Lead the Industrial Revolution!

THE DAWN OF A NEW ERA
Welcome to the 19th century, a time of industrialization, diplomacy, and discovery. Rich with technological innovations, conspiracies and changing allegiances, this era presents the perfect setting for classic Anno gameplay. Anno 1800 provides players an opportunity to prove their skills as a ruler as they create huge metropolises, plan for efficient logistics networks, settle for exotic new continents, send out expeditions around the globe and dominate their opponents by diplomacy, trade, or warfare.

A CLASSIC ANNO EXPERIENCE
Anno 1800 takes over 20 years of Anno history. It delivers a rich city-building experience, including a story-based campaign, a highly customizable sandbox mode, and the classic Anno multiplayer experience. Anno 1800 wants to see the return of beloved features, such as individual AI opponents, shippable trade goods, randomly generated maps, multisession gameplay, items, and more.

NEW FEATURES FOR A NEW AGE
To bring this pivotal historical era to life, Anno 1800 introduces many new features to the franchise’s rich tradition. While the new workforce feature makes it more challenging and more realistic than ever, expats allow players to send their work to the world. Finally, players want to settle South America as they lay claim to the black gold powering this new age of industry.

Is there anyway to get the Pioneer’s Edition if I am in North America? Can I order it in the EU and have it shipped here?

I have been in love with Anno since 1602 and would the chance to have the Pioneer edition!

  4. K Katje-Katrien August 27, 2018

  5. J Johnnymac34 August 24, 2018

Take it the collectors edition won’t be available in North America? Preferably Canada where I am.

    Thank you, John

First pre order i have ever done in my life. i hope it worth the wait!

    • U Underp4ntz August 23, 2018

Yes it will be! At-least I think that. I played all ANNO’s and 1404 + 2070 were my favorites, 1404 + Venice the most and got thousands of play hours. ANNO 1800 gave me the good ‘ol ANNO feeling.

Of-course they have to innovate / move on to attract more players but the hour long presentation + Pioneers Edition made me happy and extremely hyped.

  8. B Barracuda1955 August 22, 2018

Game ordered , now the long wait 🙁

  9. D DeVeteran August 21, 2018

Can you give us more informations about the selected countries? I am from Romania, but it seems I managed through the Uplay Store to pre-order the Pioneers Edition… hope I will get the game ^^ also, nice touch with the first 1500 pre-orders get a physical medal… I LOVED that! Hopefully, even though being in Romania, but being in the EU, I will get the physical edition sent to me. The checkout didnt say nothing about me not getting it… also was charged.

  10. P Peonage August 21, 2018

I take it the physical edition isn’t available in the US? I only see the two digital versions 🙁

  11. M MIGHTY537083 August 21, 2018

Let’s talk about the marketplace (building) because I want to give you my thoughts on the appearance of it.

In Anno 1404 the marketplace changed its appearance depending on the city level of the island (or was it depending on what type of residents lived around it? Not sure..)

This meant that in a farmer’s village you wouldn’t have a gold statute in the middle of the market and the market pavement wasn’t covered in cobblestone. This led to a smooth transition between the marketplace and the surrounding dirt roads and wooden houses.

In 2070 this wasn’t an issue since even the lowest residential tier looked urban and futuristic and the contrast between the marketplace and the surrounding wasn’t as big, no matter your city’s advancement.

In Anno 1800 however, I find that an approach similar to 1404 would be necessary. I’ve seen gameplay videos and screenshots showcasing the early game and the marketplace just looks too urban for the otherwise rural village you start with in the game.

Futhermore, on some production islands I, as a player, might not want to upgrade any houses, since I maybe don’t need any workforce above farmers. Then it especially looks odd to have an urban marketplace in the middle of everything, hinting at an expansion that’s never going to happen.

I think you should at least consider all this. Maybe just changing the pavement underneath the marketplace to match the surrounding roads would do it.

    • N Nox_29 August 22, 2018

I agree, I loved the fact that the appearance changed in 1404 depending on the level of citizens. I really hope they’ll do it again in 1800.

  13. S Sir_Alex_I August 21, 2018

Anno 1602 was an instant hit and after I played the demo (published on a game magazine’s CD-ROM (not even DVD at that time!)) I knew I would have to buy it. Actually I bought it several times for myself, a friend and even my father. Later I bought it again from gog.com just to have a digital version for convenient installation too.

After 1602 I also bought 1503, 1701 and finally 1404. All great games and there’s no need to talk more about them here as fans will know them :-).

Then came Anno 2070 and – for me – the end of the series. I had the collector’s edition pre-ordered for a lot of money and when it was already in the mail I discovered that the game could only be played fully with on-line “features” enabled. That was a show stopper for me and I canceled my order and sent the unopened box back to the seller for a refund.

Sadly companies like ubi, EA and others never learned that there is a not so small base of “older” players who would buy drm free games (or games with reasonable drm like DVDs/CDs in the drive) for quite a lot of money if they were willing to provide them. Since they did not do so since Anno 2070, Anno 1404 was the last Anno for me (and I still play it from time to time and like it a lot! And yes this was almost a “no-buy” too with their initial activation and registration requirements during installation but for some reason for a short time somebody with a brain made decisions at ubi and patches provided some time after the game was published made it drm free – and after that I happily bought the royal edition for a hefty price – you see ubi, drm free sales DO work!).

And therefore here – finally – comes my offer to ubi: publish the game drm free (e. g. on gog.com) and make all online features OPTIONAL for those who want these things. The game is basically a single player game but I know that some of the younger players will need to have some sort of “achievments” and online content to make them happy and the game interesting for them.

But DO NOT make these things embedded with critical parts of the game (like certain game functions of Anno 2070 which would only work if you played online)! And if you offer multi player then also make it possible to play by LAN without the requiremend of any third party servers or online/internet connection requirements!

If you can do that then I know quite a few people who will consider buying the game both from gog.com as digital download version on the day it is published and will also buy the collector’s edition too – just to put it on the shelf with all other Anno games we have collected so far (even knowing the these physical versions will probably only provide uplay or steam keys and therefore just sit on our shelves as an addition to our games collection but with no real gaming functions or value besides maybe the art book or soundtrack CDs).

Sadly I guess you will do what you usually do and therefore will publish the game with some sort of intrusive and annoying DRM measures – so there will be no Anno 1800 to buy and play for me and those of my friends born 20 or more years before the millenium. Well the loss is also yours because we are the people who could and would buy games like Anno 1800 for premium money but who are stubborn enough to totally deny you any sale as long as you try to infect our PCs with unwanted third party software to fulfill your DRM and spyware dreams… just some thoughts for your management if somebody from UBI is actually reading these comments…

    • b banan1996.1996 August 21, 2018

Can you explain what the problem with DRM or Uplay is? I don’t understand why so many people are against it. I didn’t notice any intrusive or annyoing DRM measures in case of Anno 2070 or Anno 2205.

You could easily play Anno 2070 without internet connection, basically only Ark feature was disabled and it wasn’t crucial, you didn’t need it to play. No critical parts of the game were disabled without internet connection.

They will probably do the same as in case of Anno 2070 or 2205 because of the Ubisoft and their policy or whatever it’s called. Ubisoft is responsible for publishing Anno, any decision about DRM probably can’t be made by game developers.

I also want to have full single player experience without needing the internet connection but I love Anno too much to refuse to buy and play it regardless of DRM or Uplay.

I haven’t found the system requirements somewhere?
Can someone point them out please?

    • U Ubi-O5 August 22, 2018

We haven’t yet announced them as we’re still tuning the game. Sorry to have to keep you waiting.

  15. t thesponsduke August 21, 2018

Ps) I do hope for lots, and lots, and lots of hours that i can sink into this game

    • U Ubi-O5 August 22, 2018

  16. R Ristonhawk August 21, 2018

I’m from the United States. The Youtube Video was region locked and the Uplay store didn’t show the preorder.

Setting my VPN to Germany allowed me to watch the youtube video and go into the Uplay store and see the preorder.

    Hope this helps others.

  17. b banan1996.1996 August 20, 2018

It’s a shame that game will be released in 2019 but I prefer to get a polished game so take your time. Everything looks stunning already! I can’t wait to see more of South America. And I see that you actually plan to include another AI opponent from our voting – as a DLC though but it’s ok.

I’m gonna buy the Pioneers Collector’s Edition, the price doesn’t matter 😀 I don’t need its content that much (besides the soundtrack and DLC and fancy box), I actually want to just reward you for such an amazing job developing Anno 1800. I used the pre-order button on the annogame.com website but the game isn’t available yet. When will it be there?

I saw some more footage of the game on YT but I will wait with my comments until you publish relevant devblogs 🙂 New features seem great :3

  18. B Breconboy14 August 20, 2018

looks amazing, but where would we go to pre-order the game as the link provided is not working. It just comes up with an error.

  19. N Nox_29 August 20, 2018

So much new information! This is great!

    Several questions :

What will the pricing be, or when will it be announced?

When does the pre order start and where can you pre order it?

Is the digital art of the special edition also included in the collectors edition?
