Anno 1800 sets sail!

  • 15.04.2019

It was all the way back at gamescom 2017 when we announced Anno’s steam fueled step into the industrial revolution. 15.000 comments later, we can say that we have not only created the biggest Anno game to date, but also that all of this was made possible thanks to the collaboration with and the unwavering support of our Union members.

Today, we are happy to announce that Anno 1800 is leaving its harbor here in the Ubisoft Blue Byte Mainz office for its grand maiden voyage, ready to bring its proud heritage of 21 years of city building and exploration to players around the world.

We also want to send a big, heartfelt “thank you” from the whole development team to all Anno players and Anno Union supporters out there. This journey has been something truly special and the result is a game made with an incredible amount of passion by old veterans, new talents and our dearest fans alike.

Join our AnnoCast Launch Party
To celebrate the big launch of Anno 1800, we want to invite every one of you to celebrate with us in a live stream, which will happen tomorrow at 1pm UTC.
We will host the AnnoCast Launch Party where we will go on a serious trip down memory lane, eat cake, raffle out Anno swag aplenty and chat with you about the development or maybe even turn the tables once and comment on other streamer’s playstyle.
This stream is dedicated to you, our loyal fans, who made the game possible in the first place: April 16 1pm UTC at twitch.tv/ubisoftbluebyte
Our first taste of our upcoming fan site kit
We have been talking for a while about our fan site kit, but so far kept you waiting. That wait is finally ending, as the first version of the fan site kit is now available (though we will add more stuff to it over time).

For now, you can grab a customized Anno 1800 streaming layout, as well as the first wallpaper and a variety of social media assets here: Anno Union Fansite Kit Preview

Release times and day one time
As a reminder, below are the global release times of Anno 1800. While Annoholics in Asia and Oceania have already set their sails, other regions of the globe will get to join them over the coming day. Should you find yourself craving some Anno-tainment in these last hours of waiting, you can already pop over to twitch and YouTube to see more of the game, or read up on the first reviews that came out today.

Keep in mind that the below world map only applies to unlock times for Uplay. Timings on the Epic Games store and Steam vary, as we are reliant on our partners for these launches on their platforms.

We also want to remind owners of the physical copy of the game that there will be a 23GB download for our Day 1 Patch, as we have been busy further improving the game since we started producing the game discs a few weeks back.

In the spirit of reminiscing on 1 ½ years of the Anno Union, we would love to hear your stories about your favorite memories and moments from this exciting time.

    Absolutely love the game.

Could we get the a slower game speed please (like 1404). Or ability to edit when paused.

    • B Barracuda1955

An edict while paused would be a big help if you guys can make it possible. Otherwise a great game and looking forward to the additions in the future

I will remember the celebration day for a long time. Winning something on the launch day of Anno 1800 and being part of the celebration, gives me a very special feeling. 😀
    Thank you so much.

I am a bit worried. Because I didn’t get any email or my gift that I won in the live stream.
Is the parcel already sent out?

      • K Katje-Katrien

I finally got my gift from the celebration day.
I can not be happier today.
Thank you so much for this lovely gift. 😀

        Kind regards,

        Katrien

Thank You all – dear developers team for delivering us this masterpiece!

I cannot express happiness enough holding the real jewel in my hands – Pioneers Edition.
The Art Book is stunning piece of art itself with top quality print – every picture looks like hand painted not like only the photo, the cover, quality of paper (which doesn’t leave the fingerprints on it!) and design is just stunning worth every cent the Pioneers Edition costs. I can clearly see in every little detail how much love and hard work you dedicated to it. This game is just pure MAGIC. Thank you so much for giving me chance to participate on all betas, now I can’t seriously wait to get my hands on full game without being sad the test will time out 🙂
Back in summer 2017 I was playing Anno 2205 and Anno 1404 and I was thinking how great it would be if you one day created new Anno game with 1404 feel and 2205 graphics, it was my secret wish and I couldn’t believe it one month later in August 2017 that you have actually announced it – Anno 1800…. it was unbelievable and it felt so so far away till release…. I was thinking omg I won’t be able to wait 1 year and half 🙂 Looking back it scares me a bit how time flies… and now here we are…

I wish you all the best and maybe deserved rest after the release. I am already excited about the Season Pass which I consider very cheep for what we will be getting and I only hope you will support this game for long time in the future because it would be pity not to 🙂

    T H A N K Y O U !

What a deception from u guys, that focring us to buy anno on other plataform, and just cuz i got this game last year on Steam(cuz i’m a Anno fan) u guys decide to delay it? why Ubisoft and u guys don’t care about your custumers!?

Hi there, I live in new Zealand and have pre ordered Anno 1800 on steam. However, despite the release time being 12AM on 16th April I am still not able to launch the game. Do release dates differ between platforms?
    Did anything go wrong?
Is there any way to get the game started?

I find the communication a wee bit poor and would really appreciate a resolution.
    Cheers.

Epic Store don’t give any info about release time… still waiting…

  7. a anderinos

Is it me or is the Steam release kinda late? 20 minutes after release time and I still can’t start it?

    • m mentimjojo

Steam will be released 12 hours later. Because ubisoft want to feels us like fuuuu. 😀

  8. A Aguiadourada

already in the open beta I saw that it will be an excellent game, I am counting the minutes until releasing the final game, I only regret not having support with Portuguese subtitles!

  9. M Mendahor

Youhouuuuu ! Here we are !!! Too hyped that I will be able to play this Anno tomorrow !

I want here to thank you guys, this Union idea was a revolution. Even if you can’t satisfy all of our requests, you did a very good job listening to us, and the result is here : as a long time player of Anno 1404 witch was the best Anno for me (I played all Anno, even 2205), I’m already seeing this 1800 as the new best Anno ever ! You achieved to restitute the Anno feeling, while adding more extra features to it.

    Very good job, and “danke”

So because I bought it on Steam earlier, I have to wait a literal day (that is; 24 hours from now) instead of the 6 hours which would be EU release time?

I hope that’s not an indication on how you’re going to treat your Steam customers in the future.

    • M Meepersa

“Timings on the Epic Games store and Steam vary, as we are reliant on our partners for these launches on their platforms.” Why are you getting mad at Blue Byte for something they cannot control? Not only were they not responsible for the decision to remove the game from steam, they also aren’t responsible for when steam decides to actually launch the game.

      • s syzara

        1. It is a publisher (ie. Ubisoft) decision, not a Steam decision.
        2. To give out release times one day before actual release is just Really Late. Steam didn’t even know this yet, last time I looked.
        3. The “exclusive Epic store release’ was also only announced two weeks ago.

This is just bad publisher logistics.

    • p pilek01

what are you talking about. Anno release in EU is in 16h from now not 6 hours. Its 12 AM on the 16th of April.

      • p punkito69

As i see in The map, Anno release in 4 hours (London time). 11pm 15th April. But if you are an steam buyer, The map says Anno realeses tomorrow April 16th at 17h for you.
        Anno buyers, second division buyers.

      • p punkito69

Sorry, i mean Steam Anno buyers, second division buyers.

    • G GregB85

Ubisoft has no say in the release time for Steam, That is down to Steam which releases new titles at that time regardless who the publish/developer is. Usually if i prepurchase a game on steam its usually around 18:00 before steam unlocks it.

      • m mentimjojo

Nope, On steam they can change the release times, but they want steam users to feel like shit. On epic and Uplay its already released, we have to wait 12 more hours 😀

  11. g gavinsonic

that depressed feeling knowing you’ve got work tomorrow then looking at the map and realise i could get a crafty hour on at 11 pm tonight ;D

  12. R Richard9998
